The rattlesnake bean (''Phaseolus vulgaris'') is an heirloom pole bean. The pods are 6 to 8-inches long with purple markings drying to a rattlesnakes snake's tan and brown color range. They are sweet-tasting as fresh snap beans and favor hot weather such as in southeast and mid-Atlantic though they are easy to grow else where as well. It has an average to long time from germination to harvest with some sources ranging from 60–90 days.
